Hi guys. I don't see much value for today, and I am now a more disciplined better and only play when I feel strongly.

I will include small leans for anyone that wants to follow me on something. These are picks that I give out to paying clients on the phone service I work with.

I am back

I am back. I was working for a sports handicapping group trying to make some extra money, and I felt that they were taking advantage of me. They had dropping sales since their other handicappers sucked. So I was making less even though I was around 60%. So I finally left them so I can post my picks here. I need to show what I can do and maybe go on my own.

I will post less picks, since I am only going to post picks that I myself bet on. There may be days that there are no picks, so please check back everyday.

I will also post picks later in the day. My friend brought to my attention a website that posts bets made by sharp players, so I can see where the wise money is going. This has helped my handicapping go to the next level. I wish it wasn't so expensive, but it is well worth it.

I am looking forward to college bowl season and NFL playoffs as well as hockey, which is my best sport. This year I am over 70% in hockey.

I always accept donations, since I put in hours of work everyday.

I've hit a rough spot lately, and I've been here before. The end of the season in the NBA and NHL has killed me. I ran into that last year too. I at least have better stats now, so I can try and avoid that next year. Part of handicapping games is learning. Every year I get a bit better as I learn from these mistakes. This is also a good test for bank roll mgmt. This is why it is important to keep your bets to a small %. I am hurt, but I am still in the game, and I am going to work my way out. Like I've said, I have been here before and got myself out.

Hope everyone is doing well. The regular NBA season has come to an end, and the playoffs will start this weekend. One trend I see with playoffs is the zig zag theory. I have used this for 3 years now, and have done well with it. Basically you take the second game of a series and take the team that lost and did not cover. For example, lets say The Knicks are  on the road getting 6 points and lose by 8. The next game Knicks are on the road again only getting 4 pts this time. Then I jump all over the Knicks.

Hate days like yesterday. Another reason I created the blog is to document how I do or how well I do not do. I find it difficult during the end of the season, and I think thats why there is a drop off for NBA and NHL, so I am going to take a conservative approach for both till the playoffs. I do have something interesting that I am going to try. I was listening to a handicapping radio show and someone brought up something that I would like to have a bit of fun with. I will keep track of this on the blog as well.

It is simple, all you do is take any team playing the Astros -1.5. I did this with other teams and made a lot of money. The lines will usually be around +120. The Astros are horrible this year, and will lose 100 games. As long as half of them are by 2 runs, you will win.

Once again this is an aggressive approach, so you start with a small amount. I start with $100. I ill bet 25% of that bankroll.

Today they are playing Seattle and the line is +140. We will bet $25 to win $35.

Hoep everyone had a good weekend. Rough day in the NBA. Glad to have a day off. Getting some good early trends in baseball, of course I just found one that would have had me pick the Brewers and they are winning. Figures.

To anyone knew to the blog, I am taking certain heavy favorites starting with a $100 bankroll, I bet half on every game. The plan is to turn $100 into a grand or two, or more if I am lucky. If I can get a streak of 10 in a row, I can make a lot of money. Once I get to about $800, I will probably pocket $400 and continue knowing that it will be all profit. I've done this many times in baseball and hocky. The shortned hocky season ruined it a bit, but I look forward to use it in baseball. Last year in Baseball, I think I made a couple grand, two years ago I made 5 grand just on the Giants alone. It is aggressive, so I only start with a hundred. Something that I wont mind if it turns out to be a bust, which does and will happen. Hopefully the first one for the blog will be a winner.

NBA- Lost 0-4 day. These days happen, and have happened since I started the blog, and I have bounced back, so I hope for a quick bounceback.

You may want to fade me today, because I am going to pat myself on the back here. Today the blog officially doubled the account balance in about 3 months. It may not seem much to turn $1,000 into $2,000, but when you are only betting 3% of your bankroll, it is huge. For me, my personal goal is to make a living doing this. If I had a starting bankroll of $50,000 and I bet 3% like I've been doing, I would have made $50,000 in 3 months. My goal would be to make 6 figures and this seems very possible. Now I am not going to quit my job and move to vegas just yet. I got to do this for a long time to prove to myself that I can do it.

Before I go into the picks, I wanted to talk about an agressive betting strategy I have used in the past. I like it, because you start with a small balance and always bet half of the balance on a heavy favorite. There will be losses here and there, but you can win 15 or 20 times in a row easy, and with this aggressive betting style, you can make some bucks. It is not as bland as my 3% betting strategy, but it works. I have started with $100 and turned that into 3 grand, 1 grand, and once even 5 grand. Last year I was a pig, had the account up to 7 grand, and then lost. It was at 3500 and then I lost again, still walked away witn a grand. Of course I have lost a lot as well, but I am pretty smart about picking the right games. Lets say you think the Lakers are going to win their next 7 games. They wont be huge favorites, but you can use this for the 7 games and make a lot if you are right. Sure there might be a loss mixed in there, but as long as you keep the bets to 50% you should be ok. Just start small just in case your wrong.

I am going to start tracking this for fun. This will not be included into the blog balance.

Nice day yesterday, lets keep it going. I am going to lower the amt for Baseball. I am not using stats for basseball, so I am going with past history and other trends that may or may not be working this year. I listen to a lot of videos from pro handicappers given their thoughts to help me. So the amt for baseball will be $30 and will probably stay there till around May or when I feel more comfortable with my data.

Atlanta ML -130-  I have no faith with Halladay. Phils don't have much either, and thats why he is starting today. I don't think vegas has faith either since the line is here. If Halladay was the old Halladay, the Phils might even be a small favorite. His speed has lost some steam, and that will not be any good for the Phils.

Hope everyone is havign a good day. When I like to handicap Baseball, Statfox has tons of good data. Some say that Baseball is the easiest sport to handicap. What I look at is how teams play at home, compared to the road, and you have to look at pitchers too.  Statfox you can look at how well a team hits a lefty compared to a righty. You can even look at day games compared to nightgames or inside compared to outside. You can even see an umpire report. Some umpires have smaller strike zones, so if you can find that out and if you know your pitchers, you can use that to your knowledge. At this stage, I am collecting data on Baseball. It usually takes till about May before I feel comfortable. I am not sure if I would say Baseball is the easiest, but there is a lot of data out there to help you make a decision.
Other things to consider- 1) Bullpen- God I made so much money last year on the Mets. They had the worst ballpen for the longest time. Keep an eye on this.
2) I always keep an eye on streaks. Certain teams just come together and roll. Last year the Yankies went on a streak and I took them and the over and made a killing.
3) Know your teams- This kind of goes with streaks, but certain teams have slow starts like Boston. Don't jump blindly, especially sicne they won, but if they started the season getting swept by the Yanks this week, I would then probably fade them more.

Happy April Fools Day. Hopefully my picks wont be a prank. Day is opening day for Baseball, and usually I stay home to watch the games, but the wife has a very long honey do list, so I will goto work and just watch the games on ESPN. As for my baseball picks, I find that every year can be differen't so I like to collect some data before I start on the games. That is the downfall of being a stat guy.

I did like the over on the Yanks/Boston game, which is heading that way. I also like the Dodgers to win. The ML is at -150, but defending world champs usually lose when they play the first game on the road. Take that plus playing against a much improved Dodger team and going against Kershaw. Not looking good for SF.

I hate losing days. It is part of the biz, and as long as I win more than I lose and keep things at 60% it will all be good at the end of the day. The Stl game was a prime example of why I do not like lines with a lot of juice. I took it -1.5, lost, but didn't lose a lot. In the past i would have. These are the things that I have learned.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
Nick to answer your question bout bankroll mgmt, I personally try to keep my bets around 3-5 % of my total bankroll, so after I take a distribution, I will lower the dollar amount. I know it is not easy to do so, especially when I am winning, but it is important. I tend to see a losing streaks occur after winning streaks, and that can be for many reasons. One, lines catch up- If a certain team is an over team, Vegas will move the line, and eventually that team will go back to the mean. Two- Teams catch up- If there is a dominant team that is covering a lot, teams will eventually figure out how to stop them. The line will also catch up as well.  I hope this helps.

Sorry about the late post, when I am wrong, I take a look at the game to see where I could be wrong. Most of the time, it is just the way the ball bounces. Every now and then I find something, and I found something pretty big today. I am pretty excited about this, because usually my research picks up games that are heavily weighted by 60-70% on a certain side. This one thing I found is up to 88% in divisonal games this year and I checked it with last years stats and it was at 78%. I don't have anything older to check it, but that is pretty rare in my book. So I am pretty excited about it, and it works well with multiple sports as well. Sorry for the bable just wanted to explain why I am late and what I have been researching all day.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I will be back with picks, but I need some help getting odds. I am limited at work about getting on certain web pages, and I have no cell phone coverage at work. I use yahoo to help me getting odds to assist me to pick games. Nick, since I know you follow me, can you give me the odds for the NBA and NHL. I need spreads and totals and ML for NHL, if its not too much trouble.


Thank you Nick for updating the odds. I hope Yahoo can get their act together, otherwise I have to leave the building to get the lines from 5 dimes. I like to use yahoo, because it shows multiple sportsbooks.

We split yesterday, and I do want to appologize for the Detroit pick. I lost on that too, but I didn't have all the information made avail to me, and I would have stayed away after seeing how Columbus was an under play. I have a lot of data at work, and I just forgot to bring some key data with me home for the weekend.

There are no games today. I do have a lean on the under for the Calgary/Kings game. It is screaming over and vegas has the line at 5. That scares me. This is also a flip flop game, where the score was 6-2. It is telling me to take the under, but I can't take the under with the Kings being an over machine lately. Their last 5 games have been over. I know Vegas is slow to make lines for hockey. I don't think enough people bet on it to make a difference, but this feels like a trap for the over. So I am torn, and if I am torn, it means stay away.

I want to share my thoughts on this to help you, so I hope that this makes sense.

Columus Detroit Over 5.5- They just played and Detroit lost 3-0. This is a perfect play on the flip flop theory. Detroit is at -180, which is too much juice for me, but at first glance the under is the play, but it is screaming over. I keep track of games just like these, and the flip flop occurs 78% of the time, so lets play the over.

Isle/Pitt Over 5.5.  Overall hockey games have been under more than anything. The one exception is divisional games and Pitt. Hockey is full of streaks, and Pitt is streaking over. Isle are also a good over team making this my  second pick for today.

The Clippers game is just like the Indiana game yesterday. Nick, you asked how I come about certain games. This is one is called the Christmas Theory, which I read online some time ago. It works when you see two teams that are playing each other, and one team is far superior than the other. There is an easy formula where you take the winning % for the better team minus the other winning %  divided by 20 and then subtract 10. This tells you where if everything being even the number should be. What it doesn't show is motivation, the real tell of how a team will perform. So if it is off, that tells me something. In the Clippers game, it tells me the Clippers should be a 6.5 pt fav, 9 pt at home. If the line is off more than 5 points, which it is, and that team does well at home/road compared to the other team, I take it. This theory is like 80%.

So on other words, I take the expertise of the guys at Vegas to help me pick the game.

I am not including college. I haven't had time to handicap these games.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I was watching some baseball yesterday for the first time, and I was getting pumped about this season coming up. Baseball for me is fun to handicap. I learned so much last season, and I hope to put that into effect this year. There are so many games, and my strength is look at data to determine what game to take. I went out late last night and had a little too much to drink, so I haven't had a chance to handicap as much as I would like. I haven't even looked at college and the card will be small today. NHL seems tricky today.

Another good day and hopefully anyone that reads this blog has been making some money. I think in the NBA I am around 65% for the month of February. I am hoping that I can keep it going. If I expect to do this as a living, I need to be close to 60%. I was 70% once in hockey, so my goal is to try and hit that 70%.

The more data I get, the better I am at a sport, so now I am starting to get enough data on goalies. For example, Anderson has been unstopable, one reason why I picked ottowa and the under last night. Unfortauntely he got hurt and Bishop came in and gave up two quick goals. Ottowa was able to come back and win in a shoot out, so I still won a unit and some juice to hockey. If Bishop was the goalie, I would not have taken that pick.

So there are only 3 games in the NHL, and if the right goalie plays, I think I like a play, but I want to wait till 3pm to see who they announce. So come back after 3pm to see the NHL pick.

Sorry I am so late with my picks today. Still fighting this cold, and now that I am tracking goalies for hockey, I wanted to get a confirm on who was starting. A couple of teams are keeping that a secret from me.

This is a learning year from me for college. I think college can be split into 3 parts. The first part of the season, the conference games, and finally tournament play. Tempo and efficiency seems to change with each part, so I have to track each.  It will take a lot of work, but I feel that this can be done. Just not now. So please understand that my college basketball picks are informational only with trends that I still feel like have value, but I do not bet on each one, and I want to be honest.

Had a dud of a day with college basketball. Some of my favorite trends that were 60-70% so far went 0-3. Even CS Fullerton didn't come through for me, and they were like an ATM for me. For that reason, I only bet $50 and not more than 5% of my bankroll.  On a positive note, I am now 50% for hockey, and I hope to keep that trend going.

Great day yesterday, and I hope to continue with the winning. NBA is nearing the All Star Break, and the fact that I am about 60% in the NBA this year is huge. You have to be conservative around this time of the year, and I did get a comment asking how I am doing so well where most handicappers have issues. I can't be certain, but I believe that motivation is hard to predict this time of the year, and I noticed a lot of handicappers use that as a major tool in determining value. I do keep an eye on motivation, but my shortfall does come with having the time to research why one team might have motivation over another. I don't get to watch Sportscenter every night, I work full time and have two young children that I have to give my time to as well. I wake up early to put my stats together and then use my lunch time to research and get lines. I am a stat guy. I love stats and I play with my excel spreadsheets to find value. I see trends like a home dog with more than 2 days rest playing against a road fav with 1 day or bb, covers 65% of the time.  I then take that info with other stats that show teams that cover well as a dog or whatever. Eventually Vegas catches on these as well and the lines start moving. Once I see that the trend is over, I stop, and look for some new values. I always find some value or trend. I keep data on almost everygame. I missed a week in the NBA, but have every game for hockey. College is tough, because there are just too many games. Next year I plan to keep stats on a couple of areas so I can have good detailed info. I know that this is kind of winded, but this is what I do. My ultimate goal is to do this professionally, where I will have all the time I need. Might take a couple more years. I really try to help others who want help, so anyone can always feel free to ask me anything.

A small loss yesterday, I hope that we can turn things around quickly here. I have noticed that the lines in college basketball have moved a bit, so I am going to keep a close eye as overs have been bringing things back to the mean. It doesn't help that Penn St plays like they are down by 3 when they are down by 15 and keep fouling. That is a lesson learned. I have to be more aware of coaches who make their players play hard the whole time.

As my bankroll increases so will my bet amounts. I will use -110 for the juice unless I note differently. I personally use 5dimes a lot, which has the lowest juice.

So we will start with betting $30 a game. For the step out games, they would be $50 or 5%.

Does anyone else have Superbowl hangover?  I can't recall the last time I didn't do well in the Superbowl. I know I had a good streak going, but can't win every year. I had a pretty bad year in the NFL, and I feel that is the one sport that I know the most. I have six years of data from the NFL, and this year was different from the past 5 in lots of ways. I have a lot of time to analyze the data and see where I was off for next year. If I want to do this professionally, I need to do better with the NFL.

When one is off on the Superbowl, the props usually follow. Only went 2-4 on the props, and I am kicking myself for not taking the over on the National Anthem.

I am looking for a better NFL next year. If I do not have this blog up, here is one probably lock for the first game in pre-season. Look for the Eagles to win their first pre-season game. Depending on who they are playing and the line, a first year caoch in the NFL will take this game seriously. New head coaches usually play the first pre-season tough, and you love to see them play a tenured team who just doesnt care. (except Mike Shanahan, that guy loves to win no matter what type of game)

Happy Superbowl Sunday. I am pretty sure anyone reading this will be watching the big game tonight. I am pretty sure it will be a good game.

I have under 48 locked in. I still like it under 47.5 or 47. I do have a lean towards San Fran -3.5. I actually have a parlay on that, but for not too much.

Here are the props for the Superbowl. The sportsbook you use may not have the same props, but if you use multiple sportsbook, you will find them.

I really like any props for no score in the first 7 mins. Or if you can find an under first quarter. I would even sprinkle a little bit for no score in the first 10 mins. The odds are like +250 or greater on that.

Big day today. Lots of games on this Saturday before the Superbowl. There could be some good value with a lot of people having money locked up in the Superbowl.  We had a split day yesterday, which ends our winning streak, but hopefully that will change today.

NFL- I will be back to post all the props. I have placed some already on this blog. I am not sure if I will take anymore. These are my thoughts on the Superbowl. I like the Under, and I like San Fran. I actually just took them -3, but not too much. The last time these teams played it was very low scoring, now I dont expect that low of a game, but I think the scoring will come in the 2nd half. So some good props are unders for 1st quarter etc. I think Pierce and James will see more touches. They are more explosive, so over props on them. I like the under completions for Flacco, but if SF has a huge lead, all Balt may do is pass. SF has physical dbs, so I think Boldin will do well, but Smith might have a tough time getting off of the line.

NHL 4-6- A tough day in hockey. It is early in the season, and I am not worried. I always have a slow start in hockey.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a profitable one, even though I made a bad call  with Rutgers. I got to stick with what I know best and that is totals. I liked the under on the Rutgers game, but didnt take both. Live and learn. I didn't bet the Pro Bowl but the over covered thanks to the AFC. I did watch a little bit, and saw some actual defense being played at times. I will make a mental note on that for next year.

NFL 3-4  I am locked in under 48. The line has been steady at 47.5. A lot of public money will come in, and I imagine the line will move. I am also going to take a good long look at props. I like to pick one or two just to make the game more fun for myself. I was once was in vegas when they released the prop betting and there were huge lines. A lot of people make a lot of money at those, so it is a good idea to check them out, and I am not talking about heads and tails.

NHL- 2-2- I don't play many games, because there just aren't enough stats. I thought I saw two teams going in differen't directions and I was wrong. Philly does have a lot of injuries, and maybe this just will be a bad year for them.

Another positive day for me as I have been on fire in college basketball. Here are todays games.

NFL 3-4  I am not going to bet the pro bowl, because I wont bother watching it. If I did I would bet the over.

I like the Flyers +120 today. The Flyers usually have slow starts and yesterdays game was big and Tampa is slumping. Vegas has the line at 6, so they are assuming Phl will be scoring a lot, and if that is the case, they should win.

Going strong with college.  I hope Nick and others were able to take advantage of my step out play. I know college totals can be hard to find in basketball. I find that if there is an opportunity it is usually in totals. I have made that my niche.

Looking to keep rolling forward here. Back over .500 in college basketball and I have a game I love today. I haven't really stepped out on here, but when I have a play like this, I will let you know. I don't go too crazy with these step outs, nothing is ever 100%, but I will bet two or three times on this game.

NFl- 3-4 Superbowl under 48.. I am not sure if I will place a bet on the probowl. Hard to predict a game where nobody really takes it seriously. In the past I have made a killing on the over, but haven't seen the line out yet. I imagine it will be 70 or 80.

NHL- 1-1- Won with the Rangers, I was thinking about the over too. That would have made a nice parlay. No game today, still not enough data. I am watching the under on Philly/Rangers game as well on the Phx/San Jose. Still too early to know if it is a trend.

College B-ball- 56-55-1. Another large slate with one game I love.

NFL- 3-4, we have under 48 for Superbowl. The line is dropping, so I hope if anyone follows they took advantage.

NHL 0-1. Still early in the season, the more games I get to see stats on, the better I do.

What a big day in football. Who would think Balt would go into New England and destroy them like they did. I figured it would be close, but nothing like this. That leads me into one final bet in the NFL which I think is a lock. There are so many reasons why I love this line, but remember never bet too much. If I had a star system, this would be the most stars and I think you want to jump on it early. I've already seen the line drop 1/2 point.

NFL Superbowl bet
Take the Under 48.

Reasons
1) Most Superbowls goes under. Public loves over, who wants to bet on a game that they are going to watch hoping for punts.
2) Two coaches who know each other. This will be played tight.
3) The last time they met was on Thanksgiving, and I recall making a huge bet on the under and winning big. These coaches are defensive minded coaches.

This is my big Superbowl bet. I do lean on SF as a side, but as we all have seen, heart can outbeat talent.

NFL- We won both our NFL games bring us to 3-4 with this blog. I hope that this final superbowl bet will bring us to even as a record.

A big day for football. I saw the line dropped from 10.5 to 7.5 for the Balt/NE game. Money has been flooding in for Balt, which I expected. I originally had 9. I think the game will be close, but I dont see Balt winning here. If you didn't get Balt plus 9 or greater, I would tease NE to -1 and I would probably take Atlanta +10.

Ugly day in college, and I am trying to figure this out. Two years ago I ran into the same issue when conference games came into play. Last year I had no issues, but I will figure this out. I will be more conservative till I do. It doesn't help my cause when I accidentally type an over when I meant under. Oh well. Hockey starts this weekend. I will start slow, because I want to get a good feel of the teams, plus this year will not be like years past.

We lost the first game of our test, which I expected to since I actually like the over. I think I like the over on todays too.I am going to check the lines to see if anything has changed.

I want to test out a theory about NBA basketball. The theory states that you would bet the under on the lowest total line in the NBA. Just a blind theory that seems to be work around 57% of the time. So just to have fun, I will test this out. We will start with $1,000 and bet only 5%. Our bets will increase as our balance increases, and we'll see what we will make by the end of the season.

Small card today . Not too much going on. No college basketball plays. There is one game I like, but I only see a slight edge, so I am going to stay away.

NFL 1-4- Rough weekend. Denver let me down. I should have played the over in New England, New England has been an over machine at home. Oh well, we got another week of playoffs.
