Hope everyone is having a good today. I don't have too many followers, but anyone that does, I enjoy hearing from you and hearing what you like or maybe don't like. I am not a professional handicapper yet, but my goal is to be. I want to thank Joe who found me through Golden Touch Craps for sending me an e-mail.
NHL We went 1-2 yesterday, I think it was just one of those days. It is hard to take a road team to win, but the Canadiens were on fire this year on the road. I am 35-28-4 in hockey, and no games jump out at me.
I will share this for anyone who likes to gamble. Since I am serious about this, I do not bet on anything with high odds. If you want to have some fun, take a look at the Chicago game tonight. Chicago ML is -220. Colorado is horrible on the road. The goalie is yet to win on the road and Emery is yet to lose at home.
NHL YTD 35-28-4 Went 1-2 yesterday for a loss of -45
NBA 51-33 Went 2-0 yesterday For a $80 gain
Todays games
Nets -9
Wash -2
Memphis -6.5
College 100-101-2
Navy/Bucknell Over 115
Temple/Fordham Under 147.5
We won $35 bringing the blog to a running total of $1,293
Good luck
I hope I'm not annoying you but what do you think it takes to be a professional handicapper? How far off would you say you are?
ReplyDeleteAlso, what's the highest you'll go with juice? Sorry for all the questions. I just enjoy your insight haha
ReplyDeleteI do not like to go above -150.
DeleteYou are not bothering me at all Nick. Here are some things that I think someone would need to be a pro.
ReplyDelete1) You have to be a winning percentage of 55%
2) Large bankroll- If I was betting $3,000 instead of $30, I would be looking at a return around $29,300. Not bad for two months worth of work, but I would want at least $75,000 a year since I wouldn't get any medical dental etc. So if you bet $3000 on avg a game, you would need a bankroll of $100,000.
3) Work hard. I put in at least two hours everyday on handicapping. If I wasn't working a full time job, I would do more. It has to be something you love, because nothing is worse than havign a losing day after putting in all the work.
4) Be smart- Keep your bets small like 3% to your total bankroll. This will help you withstand some losing streaks that happen. Also don't blow your money after you win a lot.
I think I am a couple years away. NBA,MLB, and NHL I am there. I feel that I can be better than 55% on each. I really feel I can be so much better with College Basketball.
I also think I would be better with a partner. I am good with numbers, but I may miss something that stats dont have.
Thanks for the detailed response. I think you're definitely on your way. I can't imagine betting $3000 a game lol but I'd love to be able to. I've been looking at the stats for all of your picks and trying to figure out what attracted you to one team or another. I think I'm starting to get a feel for it but I'm no where near the point you're at. Just keep doing what you're doing and I know more people will start following. I've actually been telling some friends about your blog so look for the page views to hopefully creep up a bit. Thanks a lot and good luck tonight!
