A little about me

I wasn't planning to post for a bit, but I got a message asking if I was till around. I am still around. I just was away for almost a month, so I didn't want to just drop off for a bit, but I am here, and I will be be sharing some picks. I am going to post some Bowl picks and playoff football. I have a great record with both, so thats a great way to start.

So about me. I work a full time job and I have a family, but my dream is to handicap sports for a living.
I love stats, and keep stats on every sport. I look for trends, and use that info along with my knowledge on the team. An examle of this was this past weekend in the NFL. A great trend is at the end of the year, when you get a warm climate team like the Fins going to a cold place like New England and the game still matters for NE but not Miami, take NE. Motivation plays a huge role when picking games. Motivation is huge on college bowls.

I actually had a bad year in football this year. I know these things happen, and that is why money management is so important. I think the problem was that I do not trust myself, and I started to piggyback on someone elses picks and got burnt. So look forward to posting more picks on here and sharing years of info that I have gained.

I look forward to any responses. I like to know that people read what I write.

Here are the games that I like

College Basketball- As you can tell I am a totals guy. I look at tempo of a team to help me determine.

Football is back

I am a stat guy, and I need games for me to start being able to handicap games. We are finally at 6 weeks of data, so I am going to start crunching numbers. If anyone happens to stumble accross this blog, let me know. I don't expect anyone would read, and this is just to document myself.

It comes to an end

I regret to announce that my blog has come to an end. I don't have much free time, but my job allows me some time to research lines and handicap games. For the past two years, I was able to do this and become a better handicapper. This blog proves it, but today, my job has put in restrictions, and I no longer can do any research. The websites I use have been blocked, and without those stats, I cannot handicap games.

It also ends my dreams to handicap professionally. I am sorry that this had to come to an end, and I hope I made a couple of you some extra money. If I didn't have to work a full time job, I would love to do this, but we don't always get what we want.

So I am cashing out my account for now and closing a book on this chapter.
Thanks to everyone who followed me, and it was nice to see $1,000 turn into $30,000. Too bad time ran out.

Day 79

Happy Monday, is it or me, or is that just an oxymoron. If I was a professional handicapper, I guess everyday would be a work day. My ultimate goal would be to just do this, but I do know that when you do something like this full time, you have to have a lot of cash to fall back on when you have those losing streaks. When I lose now, I still have a job to pay the bills. The extra money is to spend on other things. I would love to say that I get to buy myself toys, but I have a family and bills, so my money goes to dishwashers, pre-schools and most recently brakes for the car.  If I was only this good when I was single.

Anyways, still testing my baseball theory, something I can use before I have good stats to go by. So I am keeping baseball at $300 units, and everything else will go up to $900.

I like the early game today, so I wanted to get that out there, and that will give me more time to research all the other games to get out later this afternoon.

Day 78

Happy Sunday everyone. I know I haven't had a lot of games, but I rather take one or two games that I feel comfortable with than 4 or 5 when I am not secure. Playoffs can be tricky at times, so if I am not sure on a game, I rather sit out. For example, I like the Lakers today, but after getting beat pretty bad they are only getting 1.5, when they were getting 4 last game and lost. So here is a good example of the zig zag theory, but I would have expected or hoping the Lakers would get 4 or more points. It probably has a lot to do with how people jump on the favorites like the Lakers. So even though I like the Lakers, I rather have more points. They dont play well on the road, so I can't take them.

Day 77

Happy Saturday. I just noticed that my post from yesterday is not here. I didn't have a lot of games yesterday, but it frustrates me that it is not here. Anyway, I am still working on a new baeball theory, but what I wrote about yesterday that is not here today is that I like to test it for a couple of days before using it. So I might not have any baseball for a couple of days.

Good Morning everyone, I am trying a new theory with baseball that I've been working on, and now I am going to put it to the test. So I will not have any baseball today. The theory that worked so well for me last year hasn't been so great so far, and it is early, and that is probably why, but I think I might have found something, but just want to test it out for now.

We hit $25,000 in total profit. We are 25% there to the ultimate goal of $100,000.  If I had started with $10,000, we would be at $250,000. I guess it would sound better to say starting at $10,000 and make it 1 million. Not everyone has 10 grand to bet, but what I am showing here is how anyone can make a profit if you can be around 60% correct and have good bank roll management. Not once did I bet more than 10% of my total bankroll. I stayed to about 5%, now I am closer to 3%.  I stayed patient. Trust me, I was not always this patient.

Day 70

I was on a good streak with baseball, but had a bad day, which happens. I am not concerned, because this early in the year, it is difficult to get a good feel on teams. I do not have a lot of time to research, so I am going to go with one game, which I like.

I did want to mention some trends with NBA playoffs. You usually find a lot more defense on those games, so games or more likely yo go under. Teams prepare more and you dont see too much sloppy play.

Another trend is called the zig zag trend. When a team losses straight up, they usually at least cover the next game. This is not a blind theory, so you have to know the team, certain teams fit this criteria. Something to keep your eye on.

Happy Friday to everyone. Thanks again to everyone that added comments or sent me an e-mail. I got a great e-mail from a college student who told me that I am helping him make some money. Thats the kind of stuff I like to hear. I have a couple of college students who read my blog. If there is anything you would like for me to write about or share, just let me know. I think I might take a stab with the WNBA this year. I had a great college and NBA year, with a new trend, so I am curious if that will work for the WNBA as well.

Day 68

Thanks to those who responded through comments or e-mail. It means a lot that I am helping others. I've been doing this for over 10 years, and I learned a lot. I think I have a lot to share to help others. I also know that I will improve as well. So if anyone has any questions, please let me know.

If there is one thing that I learned about, it is bank management. Always try to keep your bets to be a small % of your total bankroll. There will always be losing streaks, so you want to be prepared for those, and no matter how confident you may feel about a certain game, try never to bet moer than 10% on one game. I try to keep mine at 3%, and 5% for games I feel real strongly about. With a bankroll of $500, Ive started with bets of $15 and eventually it would build up. One of the biggest errors that people make, and I have made many times is to double up after a loss. Sure at times it will work, but when it doesnt work, you go broke. If you can win around 60% , you will be profitable, just takes patience.

Ok enough with that, let get to the games

Day 66

Good Morning to everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I am looking to take a head count of everyone that is reading or following my blog or if this is your first time. I see a counter of how many people get to my web page, but not sure how many are real people that want to read this or follow. A couple of guys in the past have added comments or sent me an e-mail. If you don't mind, please add a comment or send me an e-mail.
I am really looking to build interest and once I get enough followers, I can get make some money, but I am not sure how many guys are actually following me. So please let the word out. I've been doing this for 2 months and I turned $1,000 into $23,500.
I've been betting on sports for 13 years, and I am pretty sure I lost money for the first 10. I am creating this blog to help those getting started. Maybe I wish there was something out there like this when I was losing money. Maybe there was, so help me get the word out. I want to make this huge. I would like some followers so when I claim I turned $1,000 into $100,000, there are people who can back me up and said they followed the journey. I still have a long way to go, only 23% there.

On another note, baseball is looking good, but still early, so I am still going to keep it at $200. I will probably keep it low for another week. Like I stated earlier, I need stats to help me handicap games, and just isnt enough out there right now to feel confident. Basketball is coming to an end for the regular season, so I am going to keep the unit size at $800 for now.

Almost had a perfect day. Lakers game needed 2 ots for me to lose on the under. Those things happen, sometimes it helps. We are still flying high, and I am ready to test out my baseball picks. I am going to post my baseball picks, but only for $200 each to start. It is still early, and I might need to make some tweaks. For the past week it has been great, and I have two prior seasons using this method that has worked great for me. So I will take a chance on these and share them. If you do follow my picks for yourself, proceed with caution on them. Once I go up to the full amount, then you can feel comfortable.

We are at a new high since I started the blog, and hard to believe I took $1000 and so far turned it into almost $20,000. I still have a long time to go, but it has only been 2 months, so who knows what the next 2 months would look like. Of course in my own personal account, I am taking some profits out. Had a perfect day, and I think I had my lowest views per day since I first started. I guess maybe people were trailing off since I haven't added any notes. I have to find a new way to make some money to motivate me to keep this blog up. Google adsense said that there were too many fake clicks, lol. They cut you off right before you have enough to cash out. I'll have to research this, but I do know I need more guys on this blog.

Day 49

Well Baseball is finally here, and I am always get excited to watch opening day. I am not sure if I am going to bet on any games. Being a stat guy, I need to gather stats to help me, and this early in the season, it is hard to tell when pitchers will have their stuff or how long it takes certain hitters to be able to hit.

Totals
College- $3,952
NBA
56-36-3   $4,702
NHL
52-30-6   $5,734
Total Profit
$14,388

Todays Games

I am not feeling any of todays NBA games, and it seems like everytime I take a side, I am wrong, so I am going to play it safe and stay away.

NHL- Lots of NHL games, but a lot of overs. The end of the season is here, and we're seeing a lot of scoring lately.

Tampa/Tor Over 6
Jets/Isle Over 5.5
Rangers/Pitt Over 5.5
Boston/Ottowa Over 5.5
Blackhawks/Wild Over 5
Sharks/Kings Under 5

All units are $600 still.

On another note, with the holiday coming, I will be traveling tomorrow and most likely will not have access to do research. So I am going to take a couple days off and will be back on Sunday. The regular season in hockey is pretty much done, and Baseball is still early yet, so I dont think I will miss much. If I do see something that I like, I will post it.

I hope everyone enjoys the holidays.

Day 48

College Basketball comes to an end, and we end with a good profit. The total for College is $3,952. Baseball is coming, and I am very excited to see how well I can do there. Thanks to the sweep of Basketball, we had a great day. I am now going to use the unit size of $600. Once again, in my real account, I am taking profits once again. It is so imprtant to take profits when you can. Too many times, I would build my bankroll only to bet too much and lose all the profit.

Totals so far
College-
72-44-4   $3,952
NBA
53-34-3   $4,222
NHL

So within a month and a half I turned $1000 into $14,908. If I started with $10,000, then I would be looking at $149,000. My goal with this blog is to see if I can turn $1000 into $100,000. We are still early here, but if I can continue the same way I am now, I can be there by June. I am not holding my breath on that one, but we shall see.

Check back later for games and please click on as ad for me to get me soem extra income. Also feel free  to send me an e-mail or add a comment. If I know I am helping others, it makes it all worth it for me.

Day 47

Had a bad day yesterday, but those things happen, so lets move on. I didn't have time to add comments yesterday, and I know I wanted to share what I learned and things that can help you.
So today I want to talk about NBA over lines. I read somewhere a long time ago that when the line is at 220 or above, the game will usually go over. I've kept stats on this, and I think it was something like 73% over. We haven't seen lines that high this year. When the league started, a lot of games were going under. The whole issue with starting the season late and not having a lot of practice was effecting the outcomes. The odds makers have been doing a better job, but the games are now starting to get back to normal. Hence we saw a line yesterday at 217, Minn/Sac, which did go over.  I expect to see more lines like that, and I wanted to share that.
I hope you guys enjoy things like that. There are so many trends like this out there, that I can probably write a book about it. The longer I follow these stats, I find new ones. I also find tons of interesting stuff out there, and every now and then you can get some info and learn something. These trends are not always going to work 100% of the time, so you have to look at opportunity. Now is a good opportunity, beacuse the public isn't all over the overs. So a line like 217 will scare most from taking the over.

Day 42

Back at a new high since I started this blog. Had a good day yesterday, hoping it keeps up. I took some more profit from my account today. Locking in the games, plus we need a new dishwasher. Baseball is here, and I am more of a stat guy, so I start the seasons pretty slow. I like to get stats and help me pick games, and I dont like to go by trends blindly too often, so if you don't see baseball right away, you will understand. I will play a game or two, but will probably keep the amount low till things get rolling, which will be in May. The last two seasons in baseball have been profitable for me, so I look for that to continue.

Day 40

A rough day yesterday, but I really should have stayed away from taking any hockey team -1.5. I don't take too many of those type of games, but to prfoit, you can be right half the time. This hockey year, I took 12 games taking the team -1.5 and I am 7-5 on those games. The average juice is +130, so I am up 2 units on those games alone. When ever you look at stats, you want to look at long term. I don't have prior seasons for those stats, but I am going to keep an eye on it going forward.
I did find a trend for over/unders in basketball. So far when I add that to my current stats for the year, it would have improved my numbers by 10% bringing me over 70%. So I am going to start using that to help me limit my games and take ones that have a better percentage of hitting.
So please stick with me, I have been doing this for sometime, and losign streaks do happen. What I have to figure out if it is time to tweak things or just one of those random things. I am always looking at stats determing why I lost. Thats how I got better and became profitable. So stick with me, click an ad or two and lets turn this thing around.
Hockey playoffs are right around the courner, and I have a great history with hockey playoffs as well as baseball. I have been profitable in baseball for the past two seasons, last year ending up around 66%. I researched the games where I was wrong, and I think I can improve to that.

Day 39

Not everyday can be green. You got to take your lumps and move on. I was on fire with hockey and hit a wall. These things happen, and sometimes things don't work out like you expect. I think a week ago, I explained how important it was to take profits when you can. What I have heard and read, money management is the most important piece of being profitable with sports betting or any gambling to that matter. Of course being correct helps too. In my real account, I took profits twice already this year. I am playing with the casinos money, and even though I hate losing, it makes it easier to swallow that I know I am still up. This wasn't the case for me always. I am sharing this to those who might be just getting in or just havent figured it out yet. It is hard to take money off the table when you are doing well, I guess it's the greed of the game. I see this as a slow process and when I do well quickly, I take it and run.

There isn't that much out there today. One college game, hockey is coming to an end real quick, so you have to be careful. Have you see the line for the redwings over columbus. And its Ty Conklin in goal! Wow. Not sure where the NBA is going. I haven't seen as many good games like the first half of the year, and the NBA is cathcing up with the over'under lines.

Had a bad day yesterday, and we were probably over due to have a bad day. Sometimes things just dont work out the way we expect. One bad day doesn't worry me. I believe if you are 60% correct, you can be profitable, and that does mean you lose 40% of the time. This is why you always make sure that you don't bet too much on one game. You want to survive these bad days, because anyone who does this for a long time understands that this can go on for more than just one day. Here are the totals so far, and we will bring back the untis back down to $400.

I hate to be writing this up for nobody to read. I think a lot of handicappers take advantage of others, and that makes a lot of people skeptical. I am not selling anything, nor will I sell any e-mail address. This is something that I do hoping to help others. If I make you soem money, I am more than happy to give you my e-mail to my paypal for you to send me some funds. I do accept tips and if you dont want to tip, please click an ad or two. Day 33

Another good day, we've been cooling off in college basketball. Some teams are just playing harder, making it a little tougher to predict. I am going to be a little more conservative going forward. On the other side, I've been hot with hockey. We are at 70%. There have been years where I have been at 70% for hockey, so I can see this keeping up. We are going to stay at $400 units for now, which is a little less than 4% of my total account balance. As I get up there, I want to protect what I have, and am going to slowly decrease my unit %, at the same time increasing the unit size. This will protect me if I have a couple of bad days or maybe a bad week. These things happen, and I want to be prepared.

Notes- In any type of gambling, it is always always important to take money off the table. In about a month, I have turned $1,000 into $11,000. That is a huge increase and it is important to take at least a couple grand off the table. That way I would be playing with just the houses money. Now for this blog, I am not going to do that, but in my own bankroll, I already have many times. This blog is to see if I can turn $1,000 into $100,000. I also want to help those who are out there trying to make a couple extra bucks.

I saw that I can do better myself, it just takes longer to do all the leg work. So please continue to send me e-mails let me know you appreciate what I am doing and tell your friends. Day 27

Not too much on the card yesterday, but we did not take a loss, just a push on the hockey game, and I probably should have stayed away from that game. I thought Buffalo would have a little more O than they did. We are still rolling, and I think it is time to press the amounts to $300. The tournament is here, and last year I was 82%. Thats a high goal for me to match, but that is what I am trying for.
For anyone new, welcome, please feel free to send me a note or even add a comment to my blog. This is my documentation on how I turned $1,000 into $100,000. Yes I know thats a lot of money, and it will probably take some time, but I just want to see what would happen if I stick to my guns.

Almost a month in, and we are doing extremly well. Total up is $5,389, starting from a $1,000 with a total account value of $6,389.
I am going to stay at $250 for right now. I would like to have the account value above $7000 before going up to $300 a bet. I am on a role with hockey, which I was last year at this time. There are certain teams that are starting to give up and ones that are playing hard. When I see a good matchup, I can take advantage of that.
NBA is starting to streak well. This year is unique, but I feel that I have a good handle on it.

We didn't go up yesterday, and I really can't complain about a split. The NBA is starting to feel about right again, and I do tend to do a lot better with hockey as it gets closer to playoffs. Baseball is right around the courner and last year I had my best year in baseball. I feel that if you follow stats for years you get a good feel for things, which helps. Last year I saw a lot of opportunity with a couple of teams, and boy was I able to take advantage of that. So what I am saying, is that baseball is my best sport.

Day 19

Had a great weekend. So far we are up $2,554.00 for a total of $3,554.00. Not too shabby, and even though we are far away from our ultimate goal, the bets are now 3x what they were when we started. If we continue to do well in a month our bets will be 3x more than they are now, and with the pressing of the bets, and as long as we continue to do well, who can't say we can't reach our ultimate goal.

I have gotten some e-mails from guys who made some money from my blog. I am curious to see if this can continue as we progress further. I hope to make a lot of money and make you a lot of money as well. Please feel free to click on these advertisers, I actually get money for every click.

Here are the totals so far

College B-Ball- 37-18-2 $1,602
NBA 13-8-1 $427
Hockey 17-10-3 $525

I dont know if I will have any college or NBA games today, still doing research. With the all star break just passing, I am waiting for new trends. It takes a couple mroe games out there to start seeing some good trends.

So far I like 1 hockey game, there are only 3 games today.
PHX to win +145 a bet of $150 would win $210

These games, fit what I call my strike three criteria. I normally do not like to double up after a loss, but I will double up twice with these. When I see an underdog I like just like this, I am pretty good at picking them too. So if I am wrong, I will double up. I havent been wrong three times with these, but if I am, I would just suck up my losses.

I am not a big fan on doubling up. I only do this when I am up, and I do well with these games. There were a couple more of these games that I did not share, but I thought I would start to share these.

Had a good day yesterday and we are almost doubled. Not bad at all when you keep your bets under 5% of your bankroll. Its good to see this on a blog, it can show you how you can make a huge amount if you just have patience, and of course hit higher than 55%. I am not going to press my bets till after I pass $2000.00. Hopefully that will be tomorrow.

Day 14

A 50/50 day, which happens, and because of the juice, we take a small loss. That is why we have to be around and hopefully over 50% to be productive. I was way off on the Flyer game, and I should have stayed away, but it was too tempting. The college game, I missed by 3 points on the over, and one team came out really flat in the first half. If the game was closer, it would have hit the over.

To those who are new here, welcome, and please feel free to add comments or send me an e-mail. I really would love for this to get huge and get everyone to share feedback.

Notes- Just another note to think about. New Orleans Hornets have been a great play lately. They are really good on the road too. I dont like them today, but vegas seems to be off on them or they dont care since people bet against them. either way, one can make money from that.

Day 13

A great day yesterday as I start to plow ahead. As always, I never get too aggressive, because you never know when you can have an off day. Hopefully that won't hot us for a long time. Here are the totals so far, and I think I am going to press my bets again. If I am going to reach my goal of $100,000, I can't be betting $50 to $60 and expect it to happen. I also don't want to risk everything. At this point, I am starting to play with the casinos money.

Day 8

Had a good day, and can't complain about that. Today will be tough for the NBA, because the All star break is right around the bend and you are not sure who will play hard. I completly missed the LA king game. I was just looking at how low scoring both team were, not thinknig about a common error made. The last time these teams played the score was 1-0. These teams were ready to play and even though I probably wouldnt take the over, I would have stayed away.

Here is where we stand, we are going backwards a little bit here, so lets hope that this stops.

Day 6

I was away for the weekend, so didnt get a chance to post my picks. Of course the day I missed I went perfect, but that is the way it goes. Since I cannot prove to anyone, I will pretend I missed the day and continue. I had a rough day on Friday, one of my worst in a long time. These things can and will happen. What I have seen through not only myself, but through others is that they will hit great winning streaks and then start losing. A good handicapper will be able to bounce back from those losses. Part of handicapping games is to see where Vegas is wrong. When they are wrong, they change it up quick, so a handicapper has to be able to change as well. Thats why I think the longer you handicap, the better you will be. You will be able to know what has worked in the past and be able to jump from that to another. I am not saying my one bad day is that, but I noticed that my NBA picks have lost some luster. So now I am being a little more patient, and I believe I have found where Vegas seems to be off. I am always looking at this, because it wont be long before Vegas figures it out. I am sure I am not the only one. Too bad no games today meet that criteria. So I am not giving up, remember the most important part of sports betting or any gambling is money management. Never bet too much at one time and you can survive the bad streaks. Lets hope this isn't one.

I didn't have anything yesterday, but today I have a lot. When I like a lot of games, I like to risk a little with a round robin. I do not recomend those, because you do risk a lot, but if I could win 6 out of 8, I can make a lot of money, and I oftern do win 6 out of 8. I have even gone 8 for 8, which of course is great. So here is the 8 I like today

I do like Nashville to finally beat Detroit at home for anyone who likes to take live dogs. The line is at +135, which sounds like I am not the only one.
I am not adding this game to my list. Even though I like a dog, for me, at this point, I still play it safe.

All bets are still going to be to win $50. If we have a good day, I will start to increase the bets. I was going to do it now, but with 8 games out there, and since we are still early, I am going to play it safe.

I just wrote a long article and it is gone. Very disapointing. I do not have any picks for today. I am going to do more research to see if I like anything, but I am not one to just bet on something just to bet. I have been there and lost because of it.

Pete's Picks Day 1

I've been doing well with my picks, and had my best football season all year. I have been putting a lot more work into my picks, and I want something to start keeping track of what I do.

So this will be a new fresh start for me. I hope to get a lot of people on my blog to start sharing ideas. Hopefully I can make some people some money. So if you happen to visit, say Hi. Let me know that you are here.

As I get started, most of my picks will be 1 unit. The most important piece of sportsbetting is betting the correct amount. You never want to bet too much on one game. I think I've made that error at least 6 times. I believe that you want to keep your bet size around 2% to 5% of your bankroll. So if my bankroll is $1000, I try not to bet over $50. Sure it is small ball, but if you do well, it adds up. Sportsbetting is also like a marathon. Long and steady will win the race.

This summer, I started with $500. I turned that $500 to almost 9 grand. I took some profit out, and now I am around 5 grand. My goal is to get it over 100 grand. I told myself if I can do that, I will quit my job. Now I know its going to take some time, but if I am smart with my money and I can win 6 out of 10, I should be able to do it. I did win a couple of parlays to help me get there so quickly, but I was working on ways to hedge on certain bets.

That is my goal, and this blog will show how I am doing. I welcome any questions that anyone has.

So here are my picks for Day 1

College Basketball

Kansas/Kansas St- Under 135

NBA

Heat/Bucks Over 200.5

76ers -11.5

Phx/GS Under 203
