Pete's Picks Day 1

I've been doing well with my picks, and had my best football season all year. I have been putting a lot more work into my picks, and I want something to start keeping track of what I do.

So this will be a new fresh start for me. I hope to get a lot of people on my blog to start sharing ideas. Hopefully I can make some people some money. So if you happen to visit, say Hi. Let me know that you are here.

As I get started, most of my picks will be 1 unit. The most important piece of sportsbetting is betting the correct amount. You never want to bet too much on one game. I think I've made that error at least 6 times. I believe that you want to keep your bet size around 2% to 5% of your bankroll. So if my bankroll is $1000, I try not to bet over $50. Sure it is small ball, but if you do well, it adds up. Sportsbetting is also like a marathon. Long and steady will win the race.

This summer, I started with $500. I turned that $500 to almost 9 grand. I took some profit out, and now I am around 5 grand. My goal is to get it over 100 grand. I told myself if I can do that, I will quit my job. Now I know its going to take some time, but if I am smart with my money and I can win 6 out of 10, I should be able to do it. I did win a couple of parlays to help me get there so quickly, but I was working on ways to hedge on certain bets.

That is my goal, and this blog will show how I am doing. I welcome any questions that anyone has.

So here are my picks for Day 1

College Basketball

Kansas/Kansas St- Under 135

NBA

Heat/Bucks Over 200.5

76ers -11.5

Phx/GS Under 203

  1. $100K is a lot of money. I've been betting on sports for 5 years, been up quite a bit and down quite a bit. Went through some emotional issues and gave into a bit of compulsive gambling so I've lost close to $8K. That's life though. I'm excited to see how you fare, hopefully you do well. I think you can make a slight profit from sports betting if you're good, can manage your money, and don't give into emotions. However, that's a tall order.

Good luck looks like you're doing well so far!
